AMHCA to Co-Sponsor Congressional Briefing on Medicare Legislation

By Joel Miller posted 02-20-2018 12:34

AMHCA is pleased to join the National Council for Behavioral Health (NCBH) and several other members of our Medicare Coalition to conduct a major briefing for Members of Congress and congressional staff on March 15, 2018. The briefing will focus on mental health and suicide among the elderly and how our Medicare legislation (S. 1879/H.R. 3032) can help address this critical-need population.

AMHCA sponsored a similar event and forum on July 25, 2017. For more information about the July 25th forum, please go to www.amhca.org/advocacy/medicare

Please reach out to your Senators and Member of Congress in the House asking for their support for S. 1879 and H.R. 3032, respectively.

Rising suicide rates, as well as the growing opioid epidemic, has garnered more Congressional activity and proposed funding to address these issues.  We have regular individual meetings with members of Congress and key congressional staff with the Senate and House Health Committees, highlighting how clinical mental health counselors can address the needs of older adults with behavioral health conditions.

We will provide additional information – including presentations and background information such as fact sheets – as we get closer to the March 15th congressional event.
