AMHCA Delegation Going to Cuba This October

(ALEXANDRIA, Va.) – The American Mental Health Counselors Association, led by Board President Dr. Keith Mobley, is pleased to announce that a delegation will be visiting Cuba for the purpose of researching mental health.

The vision of the program is to have direct contact with health care providers in Cuba in order to better understand the cultural and systemic influences. Social environments, deep historical and political forces, legal and health care institutions and accessibility all make a difference in the perceptions and impact of mental health care.

This delegation will convene in Miami, FL on October 18, 2015, Saturday at which time we will depart for Cuba. The delegation will return to the United States on October 23, 2015. Delegates will participate in professional meetings and site visits each day, the final meetings and topics for discussion will be determined by the research interests and composition of the team.
