Association Experience

Tierney serves as president of the California Mental Health Counselors Association; he is the co-chair of the Bay Area MFT Educators Consortium; and he is a member of the Educators Committee of the California chapter of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

The LPCC license has finally come to California. There is so much we can learn from and with our Western Region partners and other affiliates nationwide. On the plus side, having passed the licensure law, we know some things about legislative effectiveness and building and sustaining coalitions. This year’s AMCHA Annual Conference theme, “The Power of Partnerships,” is the guiding principle of my professional work.

If elected to the Western Region director position, I will seek to bring our members together, support and sustain current membership, build new and young leaders, and advance our profession across the region. I welcome the opportunity to be of service to the members of AMHCA.
