Geren Joins AMHCA Board
AMHCA’s new Western Region director, Laurie Geren, LCPC, was appointed unanimously by AMHCA’s board of directors in mid-March to fill the remainder of the term that opened when former Western Region Director Steven Tierney, EdD, LMHC, CAS, resigned in February. Geren’s term will end June 30, 2014.
Geren has spent 13 years serving as a teacher and counselor for the Hansen and Twin Falls, Idaho, school districts. For more than five years, she has owned and run Magic Valley Counseling Center, in Fairfield, Idaho, where she specializes in adult, adolescent, and couples therapy, as well as school anxiety and career counseling.
She was president of AMHCA’s Idaho chapter, Idaho Mental Health Counselors Association (IMHCA), from 2009–2010, and she is a past member of AMHCA’s Awards Committee. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
