Call to Students!

By Susan Koldenhoven
July 2006

Are you excited about entering the counseling profession? Are you passionate about helping our profession to grow and prosper? If you can answer yes to these questions, then I would like to echo Karen’s invitation to you to become involved with AMHCA leadership in the coming year. What are the benefits to you in becoming involved with AMHCA? Well, to name a few...

  • You can connect with other professionals. AMHCA leadership gives you a chance to connect not only with other students, but with many of the leaders at the helm of AMHCA.
  • You can become involved in advocating for your profession. Karen’s letter highlighted some of the ways that the graduate student committee worked to advocate for counselors this year, and we know that next year’s leaders will continue that tradition of advocacy.
  • You can meet other students from throughout the country. Interested in continuing your education? The Graduate Student Committee gives you a chance to network with students at schools all across the country, and everyone is always ready to answer any questions you might have!

AMHCA is "the only organization working specifically for mental health counselors!" Students are the future of our profession! If you don’t pick up the torch this year, then who will? Please let us know if you are interested in helping out next year; we are counting on you!
