  • Public Awareness (Committee member and current Board Liaison)
  • 21st Century Committee

I have been a member of the NH Mental Health Counselors’ Association since its inception in 1997. As a student member I served on the Publications and Ethics Committees. As a professional member I have attended seven of the last eight leadership workshops, at the AMHCA National Conference, and have held the following positions for my state chapter:
  • Past President (Current term which ends June 30, 2020)
  • President
  • President Elect
  • Treasurer
  • Publications Chair
  • Ethics Chair
  • Publications and Public Awareness

Additional associations, recognitions and affiliations include:
  • Who’s Who in American Women, 1999
  • Production Manager o Miss New Hampshire/Miss America Scholarship Pageant
  • Former Member Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)

It is an honor to be considered as a candidate for the position of President Elect as I have worked diligently to be an active member of both my state and national associations. Over the years I have worked closely with state chapter leaders as well as leaders of the AMHCA on initiatives that are important to our profession such as Medicare Reimbursement and Portability. I am committed to continuing these efforts as well as identifying and supporting the concerns of the four national regions that makeup the AMHCA. My goal is to increase and improve recognition of our profession as Clinical Mental Health Counselors nationwide. I am deeply committed to our profession and have a passion for advocating for those who are students, academics, licensed-seeking, or currently licensed to do the work we do.

As an extraordinarily active member for over 20 years I have attended numerous legislative meetings with senators, congressmen and women, and other elected officials to continue working towards integration of care, improved insurance reimbursement as well as the overall integrity and name recognition of our profession. I have also supported the AMHCA through academic outreach and presentations at universities and colleges within my own state of NH.

I have in excess of 20 formal presentations in the area of mental health, management and communications. Three presentations that I would like to highlight include:

Self-Care and The Mental Health Counselor, Delaware. (2019)

An Integrated Model of Mental Health Care, New Hampshire Behavioral Health Conference, New Hampshire Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors Association, Grand Summit Resort and Conference Center. (2016)

Supervisory Training Workshop to qualify as a state approved clinical supervisor for licensure candidates. (2016 & 2019)

In addition, I have supported community events, specifically the Governors’ Summit on Drug Abuse. The NHMHCA provided CE’s as well as manned a table to educate other professionals on the value of mental health counseling while also educating them on the validity and integrity of our profession.

I am a trained volunteer with the American Red Cross as a Resiliency Facilitator for military personnel and their families. This program is designed to work specifically with military families as they transition between deployments and re-integration into their communities. There are segments designed to work with military personnel, spouses and children specifically.
