Based on meditation research, the latest neuroscience is describing the awakening of higher brain states which release the emotions of joy, interconnectedness and oneness and calm the lower, fear-based brain. Concurrently, major medical schools, including NYU, Harvard, Oxford, Yale, and Stanford, are opening psychedelic medicine centers to study and administer psychedelic drugs such as psilocybin to induce spiritual states and reduce fear in medical (cancer, addiction, depression) patients. Mental health counselors need to be aware of these developments as they point to a new frontier in counseling – how to awaken these beneficial states in clients without the use of drugs. This webinar will include case studies and practical methods.
