Psychopharmacology: An Update for Mental Health Professionals

The New York Mental Health Counselor Association (NYMHC)'s Learning Institute is hosting an upcoming workshop on Psychopharmacology: An Update for Mental Health Professionals.

Presenter: Wendy Pinder, CAGS MA LMHC
Wendy has been in the field of social work and mental health for more than twenty years. She has served people of all ages and all walks of life through her work in schools, churches, clinics, hospitals, family courts, and the community. Her clinical focus is trauma and PTSD. Wendy is trained in disaster mental health and served on a special task force during the church shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC. Wendy’s interests include humor, spirituality, nature, and brain science. As a child, she wanted to be a Rockette. She currently resides with her husband and three dogs on the top of a very windy hill in the Fingerlakes region of New York.

Learning Objectives
Deepen understanding of the 6 types of psychotropic meds,
explore how a medication may help or hinder clients’ progress,
discuss negative symptoms and drug interactions,
explore up-to-date information on the use of LSD, “Magic Mushrooms”, and
Ketamine for mental health disorders, & a ”How To” for discussing medications with medical providers.
