Donald Mattson Award / Scholarship
Each year, one outstanding graduate student in clinical mental health counseling receives the Donald Mattson Award/Scholarship, a component of AMHCA's Graduate Student of the Year award. With this award, AMHCA recognizes a student member who exemplifies the ideal clinical mental health counseling student through outstanding scholastic and academic performance, outstanding counseling practice, or outstanding writing contributions to the field of clinical mental health counseling. This important recognition includes a $500 scholarship to benefit this student for his or her service to the field.
The 2014 application deadline is May 23, 2014.
The honoree must meet the following criteria:
Enrolled in a program studying Counseling
Holds minimum of 3.0 GPA in her/his graduate program
Demonstrates dedication to mental health issues in the community and the field of clinical mental health counseling
Exhibits leadership in the community, a graduate program, or related organization
To apply for this award, an individual must submit:
- A letter of nomination (2 pages maximum) from a faculty advisor, who must include his or her contact information, including a phone number, mailing address, and e-mail address
- A letter on state chapter letterhead from your AMHCA state chapter endorsing the nominee. If your state does not have a chapter, please submit a second nomination letter.
- A biographical statement or resume (3 pages maximum)
