Deadline Missed for TRICARE LMHC Independent Practice Rule 06/24/11
The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2011, directed the Department of Defense (DoD) to adopt regulations allowing LMHCs to practice independently under the TRICARE program. The Act gave DoD until June 20 to issue rules implementing the requirement, but DoD has now missed the deadline, making it impossible to implement the directive.
Revised DSM-5 Chapters Proposed and Public Comment Invited 05/12/11
The American Psychiatric Association has posted new revisions to DSM-5 on their website, www.dsm5.org, and invited public comment on these revisions through June 15th. AMHCA is urging members to review these changes and take advantage of the opportunity to provide feedback.
