Quick Tips to Optimize Social Media for Your Chapter

Being able to utilize social media to promote your organization is one of the biggest keys to success. Social media is a great way to get the word out about many of the exciting things that your organization is doing. It’s also a great way to advertise your organization without having to pay for ad space or worry about breaking the bank in general.

At the last Leadership Conference in PA , there was a discussion about which social media sites to use and what the most effective way to use these are.

I’d like to follow up on that discussion and give a tip on a way to use 3 different social media sites while only having to upload information to one of them.

The 3 main social media sites that most people use are LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

However, there is a trick to be able to link all three together. For example, every time I upload a link or post on LinkedIn it will automatically update my Facebook account. Facebook, then, is linked to Twitter and uploads that same comment to it. This makes it incredibly easy for me to post a massive amount of information by only uploading one comment.

Here is how it’s done:

First, start off by having all 3 social media accounts. Make sure your state chapter has a linkedIn, Twitter and Facebook account and make sure you know what the URL for each page is. If you don't know what a URL is, it is the website address for your page.

Second, log into your LinkedIn account because that is where you need to start. Once there, you will go to the place where you would make a post. Right before you publish your post there is a small icon underneath it that will ask if you would like to link your post to your twitter account. Hit yes and, if asked, put the URL for your twitter account in the appropriate area. This now links all of your LinkedIn posts to your twitter account.

Third, login to your Facebook account by going to www.facebook.com/twitter. There you can link up your twitter and Facebook pages.

Now you’re good to go. All you have to do is update your LinkedIn account, LinkedIn will update your Twitter page automatically and Twitter will update your Facebook. Less work, more publicity. Everybody wins.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I hope this helps.
