May 13, 2009 - Tom J. Ferro, LCPC, was voted president of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) for 2010-2011 in AMHCA's spring elections. A member of the Montana Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors Association (MLCPCA) and of AMHCA for the last 25 years, he will join the board this July for a year as president-elect. In his candidate's statement, Ferro, who is in private practice, spelled out several goals for AMHCA: legislative and professional advocacy, collaboration with other mental and physical health groups, mentoring graduate students, state-to-state reciprocity, "green" services, and membership growth.
Also elected to AMHCA's board of directors were Camille A. Clay, EdD, LPC, as North Atlantic Region director, and Debra Lee Carr, JD, LPC, as Southern Region director. Clay is in private practice in Washington, D.C., and Carr is in private practice in Mississippi.
The three-year terms for those elected take effect July 1. AMHCA thanks all those who participated in the elections process.
