July 23, 2010 ñ Alexandria, VA ñ Nearly 400 mental health counselors spent July 15-17, 2010, in Boston, participating in the Annual Conference and Leadership Training of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA). Almost all U.S. States were represented and international attendees came from as far away as New Zealand and Barbados.
AMHCA President Tom J. Ferro, LCPC noted, "We were delighted with this response given the difficult economy for many of our members."
A record number of sponsors and exhibitors also were present, as AMHCA celebrated the conference theme, "Creative Therapy, Creating Change."
W. Mark Hamilton, Ph.D. , AMHCA's executive director and CEO, stated, "It was a pleasure to be in the historic city of Boston once again to renew old friendships and welcome new members to the many opportunities with AMHCA." Next year's Annual Conference and Leadership Training will take place in San Francisco, California, July 13-16, 2011.
