Infertility is a significant life stressor that affects millions of individuals and couples across diverse cultural backgrounds. However, the experience of infertility is often compounded by sociocultural stigma, systemic inequities, and limited access to mental health support tailored to the needs of marginalized communities. Mental health professionals must develop cultural competence to effectively support clients navigating the emotional and psychological complexities of infertility. This presentation will explore the intersection of infertility and mental health, addressing the ways societal norms, cultural expectations, and systemic barriers influence the infertility journey. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the mental health implications of infertility, including grief, identity struggles, and relational challenges. The session will also highlight disparities in access to reproductive healthcare and discuss ways to advocate for equitable, culturally responsive care. Through interactive discussions and case examples, attendees will learn and practice evidence-based interventions that promote resilience and emotional wellness. The session will introduce holistic approaches, including mindfulness, trauma-informed counseling, and somatic practices, that integrate clients’ cultural values and beliefs into their healing process.
