Ethics and Termination of the Therapeutic Relationship - Exploring Applicable ACA codes and Ethical

About the Event:
During this presentation we will explore the ethics of termination, in particular challenging terminations. We will be exploring the ethical codes and guiding principles and values of the ACA related to termination. We will identify two Ethical Decision-Making Models and put them to practice with some case studies. We will examine the differences between abandonment and termination. Finally, we will apply the material to case examples of challenging terminations and identify Best Practice procedures for termination of the therapeutic relationship.

About the Presenter
E. Graham Canada III is a licensed professional counselor and a certified sex offender treatment provider in Virginia. Graham works in an outpatient private practice, focusing his work on adult psychotherapy. He has specialized training in working with adolescents with sexual behavior problems as well as working with adults in life transition and spiritual/existential struggles and anxieties. Graham is an approved clinical supervisor by the Board of Counseling in Virginia and supervises residents towards licensure.
