Brought to you by the New York Mental Health Counselors Association
As mental health professionals work to provide effective, compassionate care, they are at increased risk for vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout. This training focuses on helping providers identify and understand countertransference reactions common in trauma-informed work, as well as the signs and contributing factors of compassion fatigue, burnout, and vicarious trauma. Through a blend of didactic, collaborative, and interactive learning, participants will explore the importance of professional self-care and its role in building resilience. The session introduces the six domains of professional self-care and offers practical strategies for integrating creative, arts-based tools into a personalized self-care plan. Participants will learn how creative practices can foster self-compassion, deepen self-awareness, and support mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Participants will receive an activities guide with interactive exercises and a template for developing their own professional self-care plan.
