Chapter News and Events
Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association Creates Legislation and Brings Thousands of LLPC/LPCs Together to Advocate for the Profession
On Thursday 10-17-2019 the Michigan Legislature unanimously passed our bill to protect our 10,000 licensed counselors. HB4325 will codify diagnosis and several other issues included in our Scope of Practice. This law negates the administrative rules changes recommended by Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) for implementation of technical changes to significantly reduce scope of practice, including removing diagnosis. These changes would have gone into effect in November. This is a fantastic moment Michigan Counselors and hope it helps licensing issues across the country.
