A Beginner’s Guide to Navigating Trauma-Informed Care
This webinar will review the multiple sources of trainings and certification options for clinicians seeking to become trauma-informed practitioners. Some focus will be on a trauma-informed agencies (systemic) approach, a broad overview of trauma-informed principles, and resources.
Objectives:
- Identify opportunities and organizations that provide trauma-informed specialization training and possibly certifications. - Provide a broad overview of core principles related to the trauma informed “point of view” or paradigm. - Review trauma-informed systemic practice and who can be trained. - Offer resources to attendees for further study.
PRESENTER
Judith Harrington, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT
In addition to teaching the Crisis Intervention and Trauma-informed Counseling class at Montevallo, Judith teaches and has also served clients with a specialization in Loss and Grief, Suicide, Traumatic Loss. She has been in private practice since 1988 and has provided extensive service and trainings to the mental health field. She was recognized nationally by AMHCA and CSI in 2007 and 2013 as Outstanding Practitioner of the Year. She served for five years on the Standards, Training and Practices Committee for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and has served actively with AMHCA since 2013, having been a long-term committee member and AMHCA scholarship winner since the early 1990s.
