Bio

Joel L. Carr, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Director, D.S.W. in Clinical Social Work, in the Department of Social Work and Sociology, Archer College of Health and Human Services, Angelo State University, located in San Angelo, Texas. 

Dr. Carr is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor with a Board Approved Supervisor endorsement, a Texas Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a clinical Board Approved Supervisor endorsement, and a Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with a Qualified Clinical Counselor endorsement for supervision. He is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and in Clinical Supervision by the American Board of Clinical Social Work, a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Mental  Health Counselors by the National Board for Certified Counselors, a board certified Diplomate in Advanced Clinical Mental Health Counseling Practice by the American Mental Health Counselors Association, a certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals and the IC&RC, a designated Clinical Supervisor by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, and certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt for Healthcare by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. 

Dr. Carr has practiced in community behavioral health centers, inpatient psychiatric and forensic hospitals, private practice, active-duty military, and in higher education. His professional interests include Assessment, Tests, and Measures; Clinical Social Work, Counseling, and Psychotherapy; Correctional Mental Health; Differential Diagnosis and Psychopathology; Personality Assessment, Development, and Disorders; Psychoeducational and Career Assessment; and Social Psychology (Self and Interpersonal Functioning).
