*Previously Recorded on 04/22/2022 - Not a Live Event**

Dr. Michelle Ghoston will moderate a 60 minute panel addressing collective work by the American Mental Health Counseling Association’s (AMHCA) Neuroscience Taskforce. The panel will discuss a training model based on the AMHCA Biological Basis of Behavioral Standards that was developed for professional counselors (Field et al, 2022). The panelists, as Neuroscience Taskforce members, will address the rationale for the training model, describe its content in detail, and discuss how changes to the mental health landscape since the Taskforce was commissioned in 2019 inform its relevance to clinical practice. This engaging session will invite attendees to provide ideas and strategies for implementing neuroscience-informed counseling education and training for clinicians currently navigating increasing rates of complex trauma and stress across diverse demographics.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will identify the need for neuroscience-informed counseling training to serve diverse clinical populations in versatile environments.
2. Attendees will be informed of a training model based on the AMHCA Biological Basis of Behavioral Standards.
3. Attendees and panelists co-construct ideas or strategies to implement the training model in the context of developing current events

AMHCA will provide 1.0 CEs total after viewing and completing the accompanying quiz with a passing grade (80% or higher). American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) has been approved to provide continuing education by the National Board for Certified Counselors and the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
