Intergenerational Trauma and its Impact on African Americans


Learning Objectives

  1. Upon completion, participants will learn the definitions and history of Intergenerational trauma, historical trauma and raced based traumatic stress.
  2. Upon completion, participants will learn how intergenerational trauma is reinforced by race based traumatic stress systems of oppression.
  3. Upon completion, participants will learn health routines and treatment considerations when working with clients who experience intergenerational trauma.

Jared is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has received his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Ramapo College of New Jersey in Psychology with a minor in African American Studies. Jared has over 9 years of experience in the mental health field and has worked in various clinical environments such as psychiatric hospitals, insurance providers and foster care agencies.
Jared is committed to working with diverse populations such as adolescents and adults dealing with depression, bipolar disorder, stress management, substance abuse, racial identity, life transitions, trauma and men's issues. He has a passion for helping others reach their full potential. Jared thoroughly believes in starting the healing process and helping you develop and maintain stability in order to become your best self.
